I am a newly single mother of 3... with a professional career (Controller). I am researching the best place to live between Austin, TX (don't know anyone there)and the Las Vegas area (have family in Vegas and California). I was raised in Southern California but have lived in the Nashville area during the past 15 years. I love the "country" area with lakes/mountains and grass, but also would like restaurants, etc as in Vegas. I would like a place that is good for families but also has some entertainment for me. My children are 15 and 6. Best place for a new start?

I can't help with the atmosphere but we are relocating to Austin from N. Nevada - the cities we will be passing through include:
Flagstaff, AZ
Gallup, NM
Lubbock, TX

AAA's suggested route included Phoenix, Tuscon and El Paso

Default Why are you moving?

Just curious...Why are you moving away from N. Nevada (to Austin) and do you have children?

My job is relocating me and yes I have 2 - one is in middle school and the other is a Sr in college

We've been wanting to get out of N. NV for awhile now, the housing/job market is just so dismal here with no signs of any sort of recovery any time soon.

Other than Austin? I'd take a look at Albuquerque.

One other place to look at if you wanna be closer to family might be the Phoenix area or Tucson
