AT&T U-verse? (sales, established neighborhood, costs)

Has anyone dumped Time Warner and joined up for this? A salesman just showed up at our door, offering cable TV, and internet service plus 3 DVRs for 89.95. Has anyone tried this out? Do you think I could get it cheaper with Grande or Time Warner?

Seems like AT&T is aggressively going after TIme Warner, which is fine with me. Competition will maybe benefit us (the customers).

Research fully what U-Verse is going to provide. In established neighborhoods it is fiber to the curb and copper from there to the premise. In new development it may be fiber to the premise.

It will enhance your telephone performance, being largely fiber. It will potentially increase your download speeds for internet. It will provide video and maybe even video on demand with exceptional clarity, if you have high def.

Now here... go slow. Historically, AT&T has not been a cable provider. This means that they may not as yet have access to all of the programming available to your cable provider. That would involve additional capital outlays and structure that may take time to complete. Before saying yes, confirm with the sales Rep that you will get ALL of the channels you currently require. You might even want to record the confirmation, for later on. Will they cut the CATV cable at the premise wall thereby eliminating your current options?

I'm not sure I'd want to put all of those eggs in the same corporate basket. Once you've done that you've given away your options. The aggressive approach is merely their attempt to save their collectives B-hinds. It's all about the market. You're just one of the dollar signs.

I have AT&T (Phone, DSL and Dish Network) I passed on the DVR. I am cautious about the hidden charges. Keep it plain Jane

I have uverse and DSL I have U200 package.I love it.I would never go back to Time Warner they are thieves.They charged me for a missing dvr box which I paid in full plus my balance of 200 dollars.I then found my DVR box two months later,and returned I paid them 569.00 or so.They wont give me back my $300.They are giving me the round around.Saying they dont see that in ther system.I have a recept and all and they give me bunch of crap.Im so busy at work that I haven't been able to deal with this.

Time Warner the worse company I have every dwelt with.So unorgainized just a big Joke.

If they can give you a good deal, give them a try. If you don't like their service, you can always go back to your old provider. Some will even give you a discount for signing up for service after you have been with one of their competitors. Timewarner did this for me when I moved here from Maryland, where I had Comcast. They gave me Cable (2 DVR's, Showtime & TMC, and various other packages) Digital phone, and Roadrunner Turbo for 89.95 a month. Good luck.

We signed up because we've been told we'll get all the channels (like, ALL of them), HD, 3 boxes, high speed internet and phone for the same price as a lesser package with Time Warner. Only drawback I can see is that only TV's with boxes will get uverse. Unlike Time Warner, there is no basic service to TV's not connected to a box. Most households have more than three TV's (three are included in the package). They install next week. It's free for a month so we're not cancelling cable until we've compared the two. They can hook up the uverse without touching our existing cable connections. Will check back after we've surfed a bit.

I switched from Time Warner to Dish Network about 5 months ago. I now have more HD channels and a much more user friendly DVR. I have had Tivo before, and they are correct on their commercials when they say it's better than Tivo. I am very glad I made the switch. Oh, It costs about $20 a month less than Time Warner.
