Hi all

My husband just got an job offer in Georgetown TX, so we will move to Austin from NY at the end of August. Never been there before, we are struggling to find a good pre-k for our 4-year old daughter asap (we have a 3 month at home to be taken care of).

We are flexible geographically as long as the commute to work is within 40 mins drive one way. We are looking for a great school (academic wise) that offers pre-k to elementary program. I heard some good things about Primavera Montessori, but the chance of enrollment might be limited due to the long waiting list.

Anyone can recommend a good school that we'd be able to enroll asap?

are you going to live in Austin and husband will commute to Georgetown? If so, I think Primavera would be out anyway, becuse it's in south Austin. You probably want to look at schools in Georgetown, Round Rock, north Austin. Maybe Round Rock Montessori, The Children's School. You could see if St. Matthews has any openings, or All Saints Episcopal or First English, but those are closer to Austin than Gtown.

Thanks for the input. I didn't realize Primavera is in south Austin. Is Round Rock Montessori good? Any other options we may look into around that area? We'd like to limit the commute time as well so Round Rock might be the right place for us. Thanks in advance.

I guess it depends on where you are going to live and if you are going to be working and where. Austin to Georgetown is or can be a long drive, esp since you may have to be on i35 which can get ugly during rush hour

If your husband will be working in Georgetown, I'd check out the Goddard School in Round Rock. I know they have a great pre-k program, as well as kinder.

Hyde Park Baptist School has a new 4K program...basically a Pre-K program. I'm sure it'll be like the rest of the elementary school and be very strong academically.
