My family and I are planning on moving to Austin. We want an average town home for rent for the meantime. And a place that is good to raise a family, not too far from university of Texas.
Any advise would help before we come down for feasibility studies.
Thanks.
J.Kola

What is your price range? See the sticky at the top of the page for the kinds of info we need to give good advice. Townhomes are not very common in Austin and most of the existing ones stay fully rented. What is "not too far" from UT? Walking distance, biking distance, 10 minute drive, 30 drive?

A reasonable drive of about 30mins is considered not too far. A rent under $900 would be okay for us now and not less than 2bed room. Thanks.

Yes, well 2 bedrooms for $900 is a highly limiting factor! I would recommend working with an apartment locator, they are free to you.

Will you be studying or working at UT? Please contact your department and see if you qualify for married student housing, graduate student housing, and any other help they can offer. They may know of landlords who work directly with the department. The schools available from married student housing are excellent.

good luck!

This might help https://www.padmapper.com/ but 2 bdrm apartments in that price range are pretty rare. And townhouses are not abundant in Austin. Definitly look into married student housing.
