Houston is big oil. That is bad ju-ju in the Progressive liberal bastion, called Austin.

All the DFW-Austin traffic I've seen in the last few years has been one way: Austin to DFW.

YMMV.

I agree; there are so many articles about how Austin is losing population. Actually, the city is smaller than Lubbock!

Austin's exploding, growth-wise...no doubt about it. I'm just sharing what I've observed, that's all.

IRS data says just the opposite. Not only are more moving to Travis county, net - the average earnings are higher than the ones leaving for Dallas county:

Dallas County (Dallas), Texas
From Dallas County (Dallas), Texas to Travis County (Austin), Texas
Number of people: 1,672
Income per capita: $33,700
From Travis County (Austin), Texas to Dallas County (Dallas), Texas
Number of people: 1,424
Income per capita: $28,300

The COL is way lower around Dallas, not sure on Dallas county. I have had two sets of friends move from the Dallas area to Austin, but both were returning - they had moved from Austin to Dallas just a few years back. So kind of a net 'zero', in some ways.
