Aha. So they must be taking it around for emergency crews to get familiar with it.

Whatever level it is, they can save an accident victim's life after he's already bled out 3 liters from his severed femoral artery.

God Bless those wonderful ER folks!

Yes, sorry about that, thanks for the correction. I knew that they were the highest level possible for a trauma center, just got the levels confused with NICUs where the higher the number, the better the center.

Brackenridge trauma center took good care of me....I'm still here. It is good to know there is a Level 1 trauma center in Austin. Hope to never be there again. As much as we miss the UK, my injuries would have left me pushing up daisies.

Someone mentioned train derailment; does anyone remember the derailment in Round Rock some years ago? I hear the derailment was quite devasting (evacuations), but I cannot find the details. All my info is second hand, but the intersection of Red Bud and Hwy 79 was involved.

There have been several train derailments in RR over the years (at least three). I think the more recent one was the train hitting a large vehicle (garbage truck, maybe?) and derailing somewhere parallel to 79.

Many years before that, part of a train de-coupled and eventually rolled back through part of RR and derailed outside of town. There was a fire and a vinyl chloride car, which led to a pretty large scale evacuation.

I know some firemen around here who say that anything going wrong with any of the trains that roll through here would be a huge problem, especially the ones carrying dangerous chemicals.

There's also a huge football stadium here--if there was ever a collapse or problem there, one of these mass casualty ambulances would be a big help in triage.
