I'm looking for an Austin attorney whose willing to provide a paid one hour consultation for a small claims case regarding an automobile sale that went wrong and resulted in property damage and emotional distress.

If anyone has a recommendation for a lawyer who'd be willing to provide such a service, please PM me.

Thanks in advance.

Usually, you can get a lawyer referral through the small claims court website. I haven't done it in Texas, but was able to get 2 lawyer referrals for a landlord tenant case in CA through the small claims court website (they had a phone number to call). I paid $30 for a 1/2 hour chat over the phone with a lawyer who specialized in landlord tenant cases. It was so worth it.

Do an online seacrh for "legal advice Austin" and you'll see several resources available, including referrral services and low-income legal advice.

Texas JP courts can only award monetary damages - nothing for emotional distress.

Unfortunately, those results don't include attorneys who are willing to provide consultations for small claims cases. Not much money to be had there, so that's understandable.

For anyone who stumbles upon this thread in the future, Austin attorney Jon Michael Smith will provide a small claims consultation for $275 per hour.
