Really? That sure wasn't the case when I lived in Tarrytown (35th street). Getting home from NW Austin on Mopac was a daily nightmare. Granted, that was almost 10 years ago, but I just assumed traffic had gotten worse in that area.

It's not too bad once you pass Camp Mabry southbound in the morning, but it's hellish north of that point. Coming home in the evening northbound, there's no relief anywhere.

Definitely stay south. Check the commute times on your phone at different times of day.
