To those of you that haven't yet heard, the Dog and Duck pub is closing next Friday, 10/31. While not quite an Austin institution, I spent many St. Pats days there and had many lunches there since I started at my current job in 2007.

I'll have to make it for one last fish and chips or maybe a Willie burger next week.

They will re-open in a new location - so its not like they will be gone forever.

It's an Austin institution as far as I'm concerned.

Glad to see it will be opened somewhere else, but I definitely need to make a last visit to the original spot before they close.

When it opened in 1990, it was the first craft beer place in Austin. A real trailblazer.

Awful news. Player's gone, Dog & Duck gone.

Wonder how much longer Texas Chili Parlor will be able to hold on.

What was that New Orleans restaurant on the SE corner of Guadalupe and 15th? That's gone as well.

OMG! Where are they reopening? At least they will reopen, not quite as traumatic as the loss of Les Amis (which I am still recovering from). Still, wow.

scm are you thinking of that super cheap place that was where the TCBY yogurt is? Guadalupe and MLK, not 15th, they had a good gumbo. Open just a few years but every time I am at that corner, I miss that restaurant. One of the few places I could eat on a grad student budget.

I had or gotten about that place - nope, I'm thinking of the place that is now the Texas Osteopaths Association.

Dog and Duck has been under threat of losing their lease for years. I'm honestly surprised they made it this long. They will be reopening on East 7th Street as soon as January. And the eastside welcomes them!

I'll miss the uneven floors and pastrami sandwiches.

Players is also "closing" - we ate there a few weeks ago.
