Hello,
I just moved to Austin from Europe (Czech rep.) and trying to find a job. So far it seems that finding job is way different than in Europe. I am still sending resumes but it doesn't have any effect. There is no response at all, even when I am EAD holder with 12 yrs of experience and Master degree in management.

Can someone give me an advise, what is the best way to find a job?

I have already tried: LinkedIn, Craiglist, Indeed, Monser, Robert Half...no luck. Should I just keep trying?
Is there a chance to get a job as a freelancer in administration/filing clerk/ data entry?

I will really appreciate any help.

Thank you.

Alice

Have you tried temporary work? like through Manpower, Austin Reliable Staffing or the Frontline Source?

https://www.frontlinesourcegroup.com/austin.html

That is probably your best bet

Try U-Temps. It is the temporary agency for the Univ of Texas and is a good way to find a permanent clerical position within their system. Best to go to their office on Red River to apply and take typing tests.

Almost all our administrative employees originally started as temps and then were hired on as full-time later. It is a good way to give the employer (and employee) a 'test-run' before committing to hiring. Ofc, not all temp positions are intended to become full-time, but I suspect a lot of them are.

Apple One and Burnet Staffing seem to have the most clerical positions throughout my search for clerical/admin types of work.

Any recommendations on how to actually get hired via temp agency? I've sent my resume to literally every single temp agency and have NEVER gotten a call back. Plenty of years of experience, just in a bad situation (medical bills + financial crisis + laid off due to cutbacks) I'm not sure if I'm just overqualified or what....

My agency, and I believe most of the State of Texas uses Peak Performers. Many of our permanent employees have started with us through them.

Good luck!
