Never trust information you receive in an online forum (I speak as one who has made thousands of posts here and elsewhere providing my sage advice. :-) )

Call this number and ask your question. 512-424-2600. I found that number in the FAQ here: https://www.txdps.state.tx.us/DriverLicense/

Oh, and by the way, please don't text and drive (and this is directed at everyone, not just the OP.)

just be lucky, because i move from arkansas and been renewing my DL for 15+ years without a need of a Birth certficate. Come here and do a simple DL transfer and they refuse to do the transfer because i dont have my BC.. been lost and didnt care to look for it or replace it as i got many picture IDs from government offices that been getting by.. nope they didnt want that.. so in about 3 years got to figure out something or get a judge to court order me one.

Just contact the records office in the county where you were born and order a new birth certificate!

Right, and elsewhere on Facebook and other forums having to do with my hobbies I have others. I'm in 30+ Facebook forums just dealing with my profession. (I actually started out on Usenet forums back in the 90's.)

It is because of the Federal Real ID Act which was passed in 2006 which tightens up requirements for identification that is used for purposes of (among other things) access to aircraft. For states who are not in compliance, their state issued ID like a driver license cannot be used to board an aircraft. Passengers must use another form of ID that is compliant (like a passport). This was enacted as a homeland security measure post 9-11.
