Health insurer Aetna will stop selling individual Affordable Care Act plans in Texas next year, joining other major insurers who have pulled out of the government-run markets in the face of mounting losses.

I'm not sure what options we will have in 2017 for purchasing an individual health insurance plan. We don't qualify for a subsidy, but at least an individual healthcare insurance plan was available for purchase.

Not sure what this has to do with Austin specifically. It might be more if a Texas topic (side note united is pulling out quite a few of its plans in Texas, including mine).

Yeah, not really Austin-specific except that I'm the third poster from the Austin area

Our large health insurer told us last year "Thanks for paying hundreds of dollars a month for many years...but we are dropping individual coverage policies in November". Fortunately, DW was willing to go back to work full-time and get health benefits at her very giant employer! Dang!
