Hello! I got a job in Cedar Park. Unfortunately my family & I will be unable to visit the area before moving there & will have to set up a place online. I don’t mind up to a 20 min max commute to work to find the best fit for a place to live for us. I see several choices near Cedar Park like Round Rock, Georgetown, Leander, Hutto, etc. I kindof want a city/town that is a little separate from all the suburbs running together (that feels like it’s own place & where people know their neighbors more!) but I don’t have to have that. I heard Cedar Park has a lot of parks & we definitely need a place with lots of nature/parks/etc.. We’d like a place that feels like a real community. Of course good schools are very important for my 8&9 year old. Good restaurants, etc, are a plus. What are known to be the best places for families in that area? Looking forward to living in Texas. My husband will graduate in Feb with his electronic engineering tech degree so an area with opportunity for work for him is also very important (we need to set something up now tho... can’t wait til he graduates).

That and also when you go to edit a post, there is a check bubble toward the bottom that gives you the option to delete, but at this point not sure if she can edit them anymore.

Up to a 20 minute max commute isn't going to get you very far - you'll need to live within a couple miles of where you work. So start there, where the work place is, and look for neighborhoods near by.

(A 20 minute commute to work is braggin' rights here).

Basically limited to Cedar Park, Leander and just maybe the western side of Round Rock.

More or less...depending on exactly where in Cedar Park the job is. I can get to a fair bit of Cedar Park in under 20 minutes from our Avery Ranch home in Austin.

If your work is in Cedar Park, I'd pick Cedar Park or Leander. Though i will say that Cedar Park and Leander both "blend in" to each other and don't really have that stereotypical "small town with a square" feel. They are suburban cities, growing leaps and bounds each year. I don't know of many places where "people know their neighbors more". The one that I can think of that does seem a bit more "small townish" and even that is debatable as the years go by is Georgetown. Round Rock is definitely full fledged metro suburban, though it has been focusing lately on retaining some of its smaller town heritage. Leander does have areas with hill country views, however.

Between Leander, Cedar Park and Round Rock, I think Round Rock did the best job in setting itself as a unique suburb. Round Rocks downtown far surpasses Cedar Parks and Leander's in identity IMO. But yeah I agree Cedar Park and Leander do seem pretty similar, Leander seems like a cheaper Cedar Park outskirts area. Cedar Park does seem a bit more 'full' though. I'm unsure how much land they have left that they can feasibly develop upon.
