Oracle has a huge office by Riverside and has few offices up North as well. This is big though. Orcl will be the biggest market cap company to have HQ in Austin (beating DELL).

This is a bigger deal than Elon Musk or HPE. Given how hard California state government works to scare away high net worth individuals and corporations, will be interesting to see if startups begin forming there instead of the Bay Area. To date, that hasn't happened but give it a few years and who knows.

Good job Austin! This move is especially impressive because despite all of Austin's economic growth, they haven't had a lot of full on headquarters momentum. Maybe this is a sign of more coming!

Well, I must say it's very refreshing to hear some good news for a change. It's been awhile. Good news is the one thing that 2020 seems to be lacking.

There’s 2 Fortune Cloud 100 in Texa now. One in Austin, one in Houston. Also some unicorns. It’s starting to happen. Slowly, but considering this never happened long ago, don’t be surprised,.

I know several former oracle employees that say oracle wasn’t the best place to work. But, hooray, more tech and more people and more traffic and higher housing costs

The issue is that Cloud is very mature. Biotech and AI are the two biggest areas of venture investment now, and Austin has few startups in those areas compared to the Bay Area and in the case of biotech, Boston.

Things could definitely pick up there but for the time being VC fundings there are barely 10% of what they are in the Bay Area.
