Hello,
I have been contacted by employers in Austin for a potential job, but only visited once.
So tell me why people here think Austin is better than Dallas where it is more cosmopolitan.
Thanks.

No thanks. We’re closed.

Tell us about yourself, age, family, salary expectations, interests, desires, general areas of potential employers and bearable commute, etc. that will help any case moving forward

Austin is more tech centric (DFW has more tech jobs overall as its a much larger metro but Austin has more tech jobs per capita and IMO higher quality tech jobs overall as it is more involved in innovation & STEM roles than DFW, although both are in the little leagues compared to San Francisco, Seattle, Boston, ect)

DFW has a stronger base for the middle class than Austin does, Austin is heavily focused on high-end jobs but not much else.

Austin is a bit more youth-centric and the vibe is a more quirky, liberal, live-let-live, different, and outgoing - Although this can also be found in areas of Dallas proper...I'd still say Austin is still a bit ahead here though overall.

DFW has much better transportation infrastructure by light years where Austin is still trying to play catch up

Austin is more catered to greenways / bikeways, trails, nature, outdoor recreation ect than DFW is

South and West Austin has better scenery.

DFW has the better Airport and connections due to it being a hub for Southwest.

AUS has better live music / festivals / events

AUS to me is in a bubble, where DFW feels more down to earth.

Overall, I don't consider one better than the other. DFW may work for some while AUS may work for others.

Dallas is fine, why not take more money to go there?

I got inquiries from Austin, but not Dallas.
When I visited Austin years ago I thought it was ok. Seemed like a large college town.
The tech companies moving to Austin have peaked my interest.

DFW airports are orders of magnitude better than AUS. DFW airport is the headquarters for American Airlines and Love Field for Southwest Airlines.

It's mostly about the size. DFW is the 4th largest metro area in the USA. AUS is 35th and less than a third the size of DFW.

IMHO, the only thing AUS has that DFW does not have is the hill country west of town.
