We’re not in Phase 1A or 1B categories, but want to plan ahead for when our turn comes up. My primary care doc’s website has a message on his website to call our local pharmacy, i.e., he doesn’t have vaccines. I haven’t talked to anyone who has received it.

Who here has been vaccinated, and where did you get it?

I have not gotten it, but some neighbors that qualified (not sure what group they are in) got them at Austin Regional Clinic.

Brother’s grandson, a RR fireman, got his shot Monday.
The wife & I are both over 75 (I have heart disease), but have not yet inquired about getting the shot. I have a long-scheduled appointment with my cardiologist (with Scott & White system in Wilco) on Wednesday and will ask for directions from her then.

I’m in group 1A and my employer is very slow in coordinating. I have an appointment in a week and a half at an ARC clinic.

Per KVUE, even though the state has said group 1B can begin getting vaccinations, no one in Austin is actually administering vaccinations to that group. They are still backlogged on group 1A and/or don't have enough vaccine. Also per KVUE, the state of Texas has received 11 million doses of the vaccine but only 2 million have been distributed to the places that actually administer it. It's a complete clusterf***.

I will add that Tarrytown Pharmacy has started distributing vaccines to group 1B, but they were only able to do a few before running out. They have a waitlist you can get on, but it is so long, it will be weeks or even months before they get to everyone already on the list.

In 1947, New York City vaccinated 6 million people against smallpox in less than a month. Politics and the incompetence of our current government, federal and state, is literally killing people.

There is no vaccines here yet until our first responders get them. I anticipate waiting until about June. I'll gladly wait in line. We have enough N95's now. I'm seeing my friends still working in health care reporting that they are getting the vaccine now. That makes me incredibly happy. I know of an old coworker and his wife dying from it, and that's tragic.

So, when it opens up to more people, maybe getting on a waitlist is a good idea.

Since we really don’t know how many weeks or months it will take, I’m interested in hearing how people are getting them now.

To be fair, small pox didn't need as careful of transportation and handling protocols. The cold temperatures required for storage and the process for prepping them for use is quite problematic and requires training or a lot of doses will go to waste and some vaccinations will be more ineffective.

Also, I suspect we could get this done in a single month in a single city even with these requirements. Getting them all over the country is a problem.

All that said, it is a legacy of the outgoing administration that they DGAF about prepping for the vaccines and a lot of the logistical issues should have been addressed and funded months ago...

Where are the “vaccine sites” in Austin? I see no mention of this, yet other cities — Houston, Fort Worth, cities in other states — have vaccine sites where people line up to receive the vaccine.
