Red face NYC to Austin

A colleague of mine recently moved to Austin (from NYC) and she absolutely ADORES it! I might be following suit...

Any advice for a life-long New Yorker willing to make a radical life change by moving to Austin, Texas?

I'm 40 years old, single, and have great office skills. I'm friendly, quiet, and pretty laid back (which isn't always helpful in a busy city).

I appreciate your help!

Blessings,
Dana

Thumbs up NYC to Austin

Having lived in NYC myself, I'd say Austin would be a radical change.

It's so green and laid back, you'd feel like everyday was a warm spring day in Central Park. No kidding!

Liberal thinkers (for the most part), thought provoking community programs, green minded lifestyle...

Hell, Austin may be just the thing you need!

Hope this helps!
Thanks,
Marco

My wife & I have worked in NYC for almost 10 years now. Although we certainly can't say we're "true" NY'ers, I'd say we've been here long enough to have a good chunk of the NCY life rub off on us.

We're hoping to move to Austin towards the end of July. We're traveling out there to look at houses in a couple of weeks. I'll try to update you on how things go. Feeling like I've done my time in NYC and am ready to chill a little.

Thanks for your input!

I've lived in NYC since 1967...LOL! 5 decades of seeing this city go through phenomenal changes; however, the older I get, the more laid back I've become so the rat race is becoming pretty...routine...I like round the year green

I hope to visit my friend after she has time settling down in her new 'digs'.

How about Austin housing and job market? The local economy?

Dana
