Buda Schools (Austin, Kyle: middle schools, airport, safety)

Can anyone please tell me if Buda schools are excellent, good, average, poor, or failed schools. I have a 13 year old and am moving to Austin in the next couple of months and am looking for affordability and safety plus good schools. I have heard the area to the southeast around the airport in not safe. Is that true? Is Kyle or Buda a good place to bring up a child? Any infomration would help.

Schools are decent (somewhere between good and average). I worked in the district a few years ago. The schools aren't bad, but as far as the middle schools go, some do better than others as far as academic performance on state mandated tests go.
