The parents were being disruptive to the meeting and refusing to leave, hence they were escorted out by officers. The follow-up arrest seems a bit over the top, but it IS following the law, which is where some of the snark comes from - 'oh, you only want the law enforced for other people!'

In that instance then yea I would agree with the police escort.

The parents in question have a history of being disruptive. Additionally, I've witnessed first hand the "passion" some of these parents have when it comes to masks, vaccines, or anything Covid related. Meetings devolve pretty quickly.

I do agree that as a nation we've become polarized to the point of "it's my way or the highway" and refuse to listen or acknowledge others' points of view. It's gotten really bad now, especially for us moderates that sit squarely in the middle.

Nowadays the parents' forums I visit are nothing more than complaint-fests and angry threads.

The debate is often about how much input parents should have regarding their school curriculum. Parents all over the country have reached a tipping point and are speaking out. Many school boards don't want to hear from parents and we have seen many instances where the schools hide what is being taught and even threaten school children to not tell their parents. Some cases, such as Loudoun County, have actually covered up crimes.

Parents have every right to determine what is taught in schools and it's beyond time to shift power from school officials to parents.

This isn't about racism and inequality. It's about parents rights.

Why do you assume the people arrested are "back the blue"?

I think most people do not support parents disrupting a meeting. I also think most people believe the school board should listen to the parents. That might reduce disruptions.

..but that has nothing to do with this particular incident and related article. They were just mad they couldn't disrupt the meeting to their satisfaction.

Parents don’t have the right to break rules that everyone else must follow. So it is about inequality. They don’t think they have to follow the rules, but they want others punished if they don’t.

After first hearing about this, I went and researched what really happened. This pretty much covers it. Adult men being a great example to the children by throwing toddler temper tantrums. This has nothing to do with the specific issue and everything to do with how one behaves when one does not get ones' way or get to control everything all the time.

I would NOT want these particular men having ANY influence on any school that any child I had or cared about attended.
