during our recent 6 day visit to lovely Austin where the beggars are still active i almost killed one walking between the cars on a green light with cell phone planted to his ear. those obamma phones are going to get someone killed.
Seems all along 290 - 183 you cant drive 1/4 mile without some homeless wanting you to give them drug money or booze money - but they they have a phone to call if they get ran over! i wonder if the austin cops would respond if a home got ran over not paying attention while on the phone?

OP seems totally legit.

I'll take this opportunity to share a story though. One morning I was driving to work, going north on Manchaca RD towards Ben White / 71 / 290. When I got to the highway, under the bridge where the homeless slept, there was a disheveled guy sitting up in a sleeping bag using a fancy looking macbook. Keep Austin Weird

….Since we’re on this subject, would it be safe to assume that Sprint, Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile are non-partisan? I’m curious to know, I mean… if I walk out infront of a car while I’m texting or something I sure would hate for them to know where I politically lean

Speaking of soliciting - i have on numerous occasion seen crews working busy intersections where the individuals are walking around to all the stopped vehicles with donation cans and/or tickets in their hands, but no sign of what charity they are soliciting for. That doesn’t resonate with me.
I ignore them, but might not otherwise if they had some kind of visible sign of what or who they are working/volunteering for.
It’s pretty easy to see the firefighter groups working the intersections once in a while.

The OP sounds homeless. I think she’s angling for some AirPods from the government.

I'm curious as to how the person was begging for $$ or anything while they were on the phone?
