When I was a kid my family lived on Camp Ben McCullough(sp?) Rd in the 70s. It was mostly rural then. We had acreage and horses in a new housing area called Appaloosa Run. Our proerty was right on the Hayes/Travis county line.
I rode by bus 13 miles to school Porter Jr High and then Crockett High School.

I am curious to know - what is the area like now?

Wow, things were different then. Now, it's suburban/ rural. Appaloosa Run I think of as affluent. People live there who enjoy privacy and scenery. But it's becoming surrounded by other suburbs. 1826 is very busy with traffic driving out to all the new developments. Still very pretty though. But, definitely not "rural"... more suburban to upscale.

Appaloosa run is a very nice area, some horses there still, but more 2-5 acre lots (if I am thinking of the right development. I think that goes to Dripping Springs now, but not sure....again, that area is right on the borderline.

I looked at house there last summer. It was a nice area, although a little isolated feeling. It's right there on the southern edge of suburbia so you're really not that isolated though. I think the house I looked at was $399K and I haven't seen much listed since. It needed updating in a big way but had nice bones and was on a nice lot. It went under contract pretty quick.
