Exactly. Well Creepy probably doesn't realize that these types of threads end up being the kiss of death for candidates and bond measures. Looks like Kirk Watson will be the new mayor.

Yeah.

I was looking at this:

Austin's next mayor was not decided Tuesday, as a tight race between Celia Israel and Kirk Watson will continue into a runoff in December.

To win the race outright, a candidate would have had to earn more than half of all votes as of Tuesday. Israel took 40% and Watson 35% of the vote, according to final but unofficial results. They were separated by more than 15,000 votes.
It also looked like Celia controlled more precincts

most of virdens votes will go to kirk watson. So depending on turnout watson should beat israel.

That is a pretty extreme view, and a large part of the reason I didn't vote for her. I also think she is in the defund the police camp, despite what she says. She's a hard leftist. Watson is a democrat too, but more of a moderate.
Choosing between Israel and Watson is like having to choose between cutting off a toe or a finger.

They are both leftists and love big government that controls the people.

Eh, to be fair Watson seems to be a bit reasonable and more moderate of Democrats.

Watson is a reasonable moderate who is very much grounded in reality. For example he know that IH-35 will continue to exist along the current ROW so best to work with TxDOT to make it the best possible upgrade for Austin while still maintaining its role as an Interstate Highway that spans the country.

The Austin Chronicle are a bunch of loons so I could not care less what they think. The Statesman is a shell of its former self and the amount of talent and insight there is severely lacking.

Watching KXAN and they’re saying Celia won Travis county by 17 votes. Kirk won hays county (I guess the bit near 1626? I didn’t know it actually went that far) by about 27 votes and Williamson county 63% to 37%. I’m sure there will vean article posted sometime soon. I’m a bit disappointed, but Kirk is reasonable and it’s not like Matt Mccowiak or whatever his name is, is the mayor.
