Got a shot, sat there for 30 minutes, got another shot, sat there for 30 minutes, then I could leave. After the first month, I could only get one shot at a time. My doc is literally right down the street, but it's still a pain to skip out of work twice a week to do that.

I was hoping that insurance had started covering the drops.
Yep I still go broke on things like this. It's amazing how people seem to be penalized for doing something that makes perfect sense (taking drops so you don't miss out on work).

My wife's company (and mine, but I am on her insurance) covers the drops; however, both companies are 'self insured', so it isn't an insurance company decision. In any case, it is sometime covered depending on where you work. Our insurance covers it specifically due to the time saved. Neither my wife or I use the option, though, so not sure if it is 100% covered or what.

Right wing allergy report VS Leftist allergy report. That's some news bias for you.

FYI CG,

For the fun of it I dropped by the allergy clinic I get my drops at and inquired as to whether insurance covered the shots option. I was told the drops were $600 a year and the shots would be a little over $2,200. Go figure. Aetna is our insurance provider.

Both parties will agree that Cedar Season phenomenally sucks. Probably the last bit of bipartisanship remaining in America.

dehumidifier may be better to use than just A/C to reduce humidity inside of the house. I run those partly together to get indoor humidity below 50%. Get 70 pint one ~$200 in sale. Good on winter time also as it heats a bit

Thanks Karpo,

I think I'll look into this (sounds like a practical low cost way to at least address the mold issue). I don't think we have some abundance of mold, but typically run right at the limit (close to 60%....30% to 50% is apparently ideal).

Allergy shots are very time consuming. I needed seven shots each time to deal with my allergies, four on one arm and three on the other. I did it for five years. It helped and lasted a few years after that. I felt like I was tethered to that office. Each year they mixed new antigens and I had to "ramp up" all over again.

My allergist was "anti-drop" at the time. I had heard somewhere that injections are a key part of the revenue for an allergist's office. Losing that revenue would impact their businesses significantly. I hope that's not true. I would not be happy if resistance to a new form of treatment was based on the financial interests of doctors rather than their patients.

I used to do allergy shots too but I agree that it was a bit too much of a commitment for me. I ended up just dealing with my allergies and used zyrtec.
