I'm thinking about relocating for quicker access to 78704 Manchaca Rd area (Click for a Zip Code Boundary Map. here's a zipcode map in case you'd like to see). I've found a neat place in 78736 to rent and the area looks good. Just wondering if anyone has anything to say about the area or the commute down 290/71 to Manchaca.

It's around Scenic Brook dr. Looks like an older area (80s), but still good community. Only thinking about living there for about 2-3 years.

The Scenic Brook area is one of my favorite areas of Austin. It's still a neighborhood where you can find homes for less than $200k and be fairly close to downtown. Shopping and restaurants are nearby.

Your commute from there to Manchaca Rd. north of Ben White should take about 12-20 minutes, depending on the time of day. The "Y" in Oak Hill (71/290 split) will eventually have a freeway overpass. At present, the Y can get congested, especially approaching Williams Cannon from either direction.
