Default Moving to Austin

I am currently living in Savannah Ga...And I really can't wait to move.
I am originally from So Cal.
I am married with a 8 yr old son. We are into alternative music, roller derby, MCM (mid-century modern) houses.
Austin just seems like a really great place to live......
We currently own a home and would of course be buying if we moved to Austin.
If anyone has any idea's on where to find a job in manufacturing or in the aerospace business in the Austin area that would be great.

Thanks

Aerospace jobs are pretty rare in Austin. Off-hand, I can't think of any that are pure AS, in fact. Dallas has some (mostly military 'aero'), and Houston, of course (mostly 'space'). As for manufcturing, the semiconductor industry is pretty big here and pays fairly well for manufacturing. Most manuf. is hi-tech - Dell, IBM, Freescale, TI, Samsung, etc.

Just FYI, if you are looking into career changes (or maybe it is right up your alley) National Instruments made the list of top companies to work for again.

For info on MCM in Austin and modern homes for sale, don't miss the Modern Austin website at http://www.modernaustin.com. It seems that there aren't all that many MCM homes in the Austin area, and the better/larger ones that are available go for a premium.

We had our heart set on buying a MCM here (moved from SoCal, around the corner from an Eichler developement!), but we didn't quite manage it. We bought a 1978 house instead -- close but no cigar!

Good luck!
