I was going through the Austin site, it was saying about stuff how its like Musical etc.

In a few months im moving from australia to Austin by myself to live and work there with World of Warcraft, Any Who...A few Questions.

Are there Really Music Parades and lots of noise that wont let a man like me get my sleep?
How is the weather over there compared to Australia in Melbourne?
Are people Nice and friendly over there?

The Music and Art'y theme is starting to scare me away from austin.

Thanks, HH61

As long as you don't live right downtown (pricey) or right next to Zilker Park (also pricey), you should be fine. Yes, we're a very musical town, but we have a lot of very peaceful, quiet neighborhoods as well.

Yes, it's the live music capital, but don't usually see lots of musical parades all over the place. Don't live near 6th street or close to campus (UT), or next to any of the clubs, especially the ones with outdoor areas then you'll be fine. I don't know how hot it gets in Australia, but it was 104 today here. This is Texas and Texans are known for their hospitality and friendliness, so yes, people are nice here

By central Austin do you mean downtown, or do you mean the area around downtown?

Probably about 30 minutes during rush hour, though, if you know the back routes in case of a traffic jam.

Less the rest of the time.

If you're moving to Austin by yourself to work for Blizzard and plan on renting, then I wouldn't rule out finding an apartment close to work to start. You can always move out to Round Rock or Cedar Park once you've had time to investigate the surrounding areas.

I know that Blizzard has a new 24 hour customer service location somewhere in Austin (they have job postings for it on their website), but I don't know where it's actually located.
