Hello,

My boyfriend and I are thinking of relocating from Pittsburgh, PA to Austin, TX. Before we do so, we were hoping we could find out what people think of Austin. I was hoping people could give us five reasons to move to Austin and five reasons not to do so.

Thank you!

There are about a zillion threads with lists like that on this forum. Try searching "best" and "worst" things about Austin. You'll get more opinions than you could possibly want. Everyone has different priorities, so I'm not sure I would put too much stock in what others say.

I'm also moving to Austin from Pittsburgh! Here are my 5 pro/con reasons.

5 Reasons NOT to move to Austin:

1. Nothing beats living in Pittsburgh during STEELER SEASON!
2. Great summers--perfect weather.
3. Change of seasons--Autumn is beautiful in PA.
4. Snow -- if you like that nasty white stuff!
5. Great healthcare system--if I were really ill, I would want to be in a Pittsburgh hospital.

5 Reasons to move to Austin:

1. MILD Winters-- No snow -- if you don't like that nasty white stuff!
2. Ability to do outdoor activities year round.
3. Great live music, no matter what your musical taste is.
4. Friendly people.
5. Better economy.

How about coming here first and seeing if it's really the place for you instead of taking a bunch of internet articles' word for it? I'd also try to find a job before just packing up and coming here. It's really not as easy as you think it is.
