Hi, I will be relocating in the next few months with my family to the Austin Area, we will be glad to be back in Texas! Lived North of Dallas just over two years ago..

I would like to hear opinions on Leander/Ceder Park area for schools (middle and high) and housing. From all of the research I have done, it would appear that is the area we are most interested in, however I will look at others.

Also, and input on Whitestone Oaks? Highland Homes?

I do have a real estate license in Texas that is on inactive status, I plan on finding a broker to hang it with once we are in place. Opinions on brokers in that same area would be great as well.

Thanks in advance...
R

We just bought a Highland home in Teravista and LOVE it!! The quality of this home is just so much higher than any other builders we looked at out there. Fantastic!

We're long time Leander residents and love the school district. If you want specifics about schools, feel free to DM me (don't want to tell the world where my kids are )

I don't know anything about the builder, but that neighborhood looks really nice. Being close to the lake and hill country will probably help the value.

Congrats on getting back to TX!

I *highly* recommend the Leander Independent School District for those w/ kids... lacking a trust fund (which is what it would take me to live elsewhere) I think it's terrific!

I expressly chose a Leander home for the LISD school system when I moved from Connecticut. Their web site is at: Leander Independent School District

My 15-yo son came up via Blockhouse Elementary, Henry & Wiley MS (he was at Henry for two years and moved to Wiley for one year when it opened) and he's at Vista Ridge HS now... I couldn't be happier.

As for housing... you'll get more bang for your buck out here than in Austin proper. Shop ALL the developers/subdivisions (tiresome, I know, but worth the trouble) as you'll find a wide range of home/subdivision standards and amenities.

TX Griff

Bockhouse Creek Elementary is a great school...the principal has been there forever and the kids LOVE him. I like that every year, the fine arts dept. (theater, music, & art teachers) puts on a play with EVERY grade. That's 2 or 3 performances of 6 plays a year! All kids participate, either with a speaking part or part of the chorus. We're not there anymore and I really miss that.
