Holy cow pools are expensive

woodinvilleguy & Schnaiy were spot on with their recommendations. The company started digging in late September and our pool, although filled with water, has not yet had a city inspection. Obviously we went with a "little guy;" not the cheapest (all the prices were about the same). The salesman did a runner while the pool was being built, so the phrase, "that's extra" was a common theme (even though items were written into the word doc proposal, but not the contract - we were way to trusting). Their comment "my bad" "we forgot to plumb that," the yard damage, the attitude,...guess this is a harbinger of the warranty work we can expect.

On a brighter note, we had someone cover our back patio and it is awesome. This guy was a complete professional.

May I ask who did your patio work and what style patio cover you selected? We're closing on a house in Round Rock this month, and we opted not to upgrade to a covered back patio because it would change the look of the windows in our family room. We have huge trees on our lot which provide shade over half of our patio, but we'd still like to cover our patio as soon as possible. Thanks!

Mrs. JT - I've sent you a DM with the contractor's name and contact info.

We also have windows in the family room that look out onto the porch. The west sun in the summer time was brutal.

The roof is a simple shed type roof supported by white limestone columns, 2 ceiling fans and recessed lighting on a dimmer switch. We love our covered patio/porch!

As for the pool for anyone reading.....our pool finally passed the city inspection 7 months after digging the hole. Rumour is that there was a hold on issuing new permits until all the outstanding permits were closed out; don't know if that's a fact.
