Any suggestions on good bike trails in and around Travis county? Here's the deal; I need a place to go either either paved or gravel that is relatively safe if I have a kid in a child's seat. I have done the town lake loop and I need some variety. I prefer not to share a route with vehicular traffic. I don't mind hills. Any suggestions? Thanks!

It's a trip but in San Antonio there's an easy bike trail that hits all the historical missions. It's a pretty good ride and the entire length will waste 3 hours easily.

Check out the Brushy Creek Regional Trail. A good starting point is Brushy Creek Lake Park on Brushy Creek Road east of Parmer by 1/4-mile. It's a crushed stone path that winds along and crosses the creek. It's current;y being expanded west of Parmer and may not be open past Parmer. To the east of the park, the trail is at least three miles long one-way.

Here's an Austin Explorer link showing the trail and some info.

Also, the Shoal Creek Hike and Bike Trail in town should suit your needs.

As of March 7th, this path is a paved path that goes from the Twin Lakes ymca (183) to the north end of Great oaks.
