I am thinking of relocating to the seven oaks area in Austin off Bee Caves Road but
I am concerned about safety leaving the subdivision and going left towards downtown.
Does anyone have any information about this/accident patterns in the area? Are
there any plans to put in more lights or adjust the road to make it more safe?

I live a little further up the road off Bee Cave. There have been several fatalities on Bee Cave from people trying to turn left onto Bee Cave from one of the adjoining streets. The speed limit is 60 MPH and when cars collide, well it's not a pretty sight. I think you are wise to be concerned, although there is a center turn lane and if you are cautious, you should be able to get into the center lane and wait to merge safely.

There is a second option but it would take you an extra 5 minutes. You can enter the adjoining subdivision, Eanes Bluff and come out on Cuernavaca and backtrack to Bee Cave where there is a light. I guess it would depend on what time of day and how much traffic is on the road.

If people learned to drive responsibly, accidents on ANY road would be minimized. Depending on how new the subdivision is, there's probably a light planned....one more traffic control to slow the commute & increase city revenue.

I serioulsy doubt they will put a light there. If they put a light at the entrance to every subdivision off Bee Cave, it would hinder the traffic flow even worse than it already is. Besides, there are older and bigger subdivisions that don't have lights yet, so I don't see seven Oaks getting one any time soon.
