I was told that you could literally hoist a beer and drive around legally back in the 80's in Texas(I suppose without being legally drunk)....is that the case? How surreal THAT must have been.....too bad we can't bring back those days, and tell the Fed to keep their highway funds.....

Yes, there are canine drunks......far more than you would think, actually.....

Texans had a fit when they finally passed an 'open container' law. I don't know when that was, but I want to say maybe 10 years ago....at first they passed a law that only the driver couldn't have a drink in his/her hand, but the passenger(s) could! How useless was that?!

Ah, yes, the Glory Days. My brother could drink, behind the wheel, while driving, at age 18. Legally. Then they pushed it to 19, then 21, concurrently ramping up the law to the over-reaching BS of .08 and mandatory blood tests. Meanwhile many people, and every single female, today is on her phone when behind the wheel. That's not sexist, I can document it.

I hate the one that's up now, too. But, if that's a canine drunk, it's the weirdest-looking dog I've ever seen.

I remember getting beer from a beer "pop machine" when I was stationed at Ft Sam Houston back in the early 80's

It was statewide. I lived in Houston when you could do that (drive with an open container, not give animals beer from a beer bong ).

My dad would always stop at 'Stop and Go' and pick up a Coors. He'd drive me home while sipping on that. Can you believe it? Oh, and no seatbelts or airbags. Somehow we survived.
