Some odd 3 plus years ago we moved to Austin texas from a over priced oregon ,in hope of finding what would be of help for are child with pdd who was 7 .
the timing was wrong to move to austin , being post huricane katrina and austin being over run and resource and good will going quicky .

FInding out very quicky that if you where not invited to live in austin then you have no right to make statements complaining about not being able to find help for your child .

Austin is a play to pay town ,and if you can't afford the help your child needs and don't have other help ,you have no chose but to give up.

This is just a statement asking ,is there any help out there that does not have a huge houry oost of $120 anhour.
THanks for your time

What ISD are yall in? My son has Aspergers and LISD seems pretty good with stuff but to get that help was a long process but we still end up doing some of the $120 per hour stuff anyway. You can dm if you want to. Texas is pay to play type of state, goes with the thinking state govt should not be to big.

When the twins were young, I took them to Children's Therapeutic for torticollis and I remember they worked with children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I believe that is what PPD is. They were wonderful there with all of the children. They were covered under our insurance so I'm not sure about their prices, but I heard another mom once say that they worked with her based on what she could pay. Here is the link to their website. The owner, Gabby Rose is incredible. Hope this helps. Children's Therapeutics - Home (http://www.childrenstherapeutics.com/index.html - broken link)

Your child's school should be assisting you get the help you need. Check with the counselor of your child's school and if you do not get help, call the administration and keep asking until you get it.

Well first, don't give up hope. If you don't have one already, you need a good support group. There is no group that is more informed than parents of children with autism. Amazingly informed, and they can help. Please take a look at the links on this page:
SpecialNeedsNeighborhood.com | Support Groups | Children, ADD, Autism, ADHD, Disability Resources

Also, have you spoken with Thoughtful House? I've never worked with them, but some here may be able to give an opinion.

All the best to you.

Just thinking this child may be nearing the upper age limit of the children they serve. By all means try, but be aware that may be the case. It's desirable to get a child in a program that will serve him or her for several years for the sake of continuity, imo.
