Can anyone reccommend some nice apartment communities in this area? We are going to be relocating and not ready to commit to buying. From the little bit I have read this seems to be an area I would like to consider.
Thanks!

Just to warn you, most of the apartments in the Far West area (assuming you mean Far West Blvd, not geographically far West ) are very heavy on college students. There is shuttle bus service all around here and it is very convenient for the students, but some of the apartments will have a slightly higher 'loud, boisterous person' incidence rate.

As for NW Hills, Riata is probably still one of the nicer large complexes and fairly new. OF course, it costs more, too, I am sure. After that, there are many, many apartments in the are, but I really can't answer for the quality relative to one another. Many are pretty nice, and there aren't that many 'bad' ones that I can think of off-hand.

Trainwreck, Riata is considered more the Arboretum area than NW Hills. NW Hills is the area around Spicewood Springs and Mesa.

Anyway, Trainwreck is correct about a lot of the apartments in the Far West area being full of students. You might want to find a few complexes there and then check the ratings:

Also, if you Google the name of the complex, you'll often get ratings.

Sorry I can't help with specific names but Riata is the only complex I've lived in here in Austin. And yes, it was very nice.

I used to live in canyon springs (spicewood and mesa), that was a nice apartment complex, I didnt think there were many/any students there.

I live in Riata for now until we find a house and we really enjoy. Not very many college kids, but lots of amenities and fun stuff to do!
