Does anyone have recommendations for short-term (1-2 months) housing in the Austin area? We're relocating around the I35 and 71. Our relocation is happening faster than we thought and I just need a place to stay until my girlfriend moves up and we buy a house. Also, are short-term FURNISHED apartments available? What are the price ranges? Nothing fancy, just a one-bedroom to lay my head after work. Thanks for your help!

You can try one of the extended stay motels like Extended Stay America. It may be a little pricey though.

Edit: just checked their web site. Looks like a single queen is $39.99 / day so a month would run around $1120 before taxes.

Do apartments run for less than that in the area? In Boca that's about what we'd pay for a one-bedroom non-furnished, but I don't know about Austin. Thanks so much for your help!

I'm in the same situation as you... There is a lack of affordable short term housing. As far as hotels go there is Value Place for $199/wk (3 locations in the Austin area). If you don't mind living with (most likely) a bunch of college students there are several places (ie University Commons) that offer furnished apts with short term leases, the price varies depending on how many (or just you) people you are willing to live with. If you have money to burn, there is always corporate housing which will run you (at least from what I have seen) anywhere from $1800-$4000/mo. Other than that you can check craigslist for sublets, or you can contact one of the many apartment locators around town... good luck!

I've checked out Value Place and heard some great things about how clean they keep their rooms. At $199/wk, I think that's the best deal out there as long as its not too far from the plant. We'll probably go with that at least for the 1st couple of weeks. Thanks so much for your input!
