We visited Austin/RR/Cedar Park last summer and fell in love with it! We are planning on moving there next year and would appreciate advice on neighborhoods that might fit our family. We are a family of 5, our 3 kids are 10 years old and under. Politically, religiously, and socially liberal/open minded. Primary bread-winner is in IT but will be telecommuting so proximity to jobs is not at issue at the moment.

We are looking for neighborhoods with homes in the 250-300K range, good schools, and very family oriented. The more block parties and neighborhood get-togethers the better!

We have a general idea of the lay of the land since we visited but if you have area codes that we can use on realtor.com, that would help us very much!

Thanks!

do you mean zip code? Everyone around here is 512 area code...most of CP is 78613 with some being 78641 most of that area code is Leander though. Good luck!We just did the concert in the park last night over in CP and it was fun..then went to Moonies for a burger..yummy!

I live in Cat Hollow in Round Rock - 78681. Great schools, homes $200 - $350, very diverse. We love it. Really no block parties here though.

You might look at Behrens Ranch, Mayfield Ranch, Oak Brook, and Brushy Creek North in Round Rock, and Avery Ranch and Stone Oak which are both split between Round Rock ISD and Leander ISD. Terravista is nice also...

Okay, couple of questions. Besides block parties, what do you like to do? Are you more into outdoor activities (the lake, hiking, horseback riding, sports, etc.) or museums and restaurants, say? Do you feel that you need to live in a neighborhood with an HOA, would you not live in a neighborhood with an HOA if someone paid you to do so, or do you not care? New house in new neighborhood or older house in established neighborhood?

While awaiting your response, which might change things entirely, I'm going to suggest that you check out places in the Lake Travis ISD, the Leander ISD, the Round Rock ISD, perhaps Dripping Springs or Georgetown if you want to get a bit further out. Also, check with Great Schools to get parental feedback on individual schools, and remember that the school that is great for one kid may be a disaster for another one, and vice versa, so look at the schools with your own children in mind.

Cedar Park and Leander are very safe with fantastic schools...both areas are growing by leaps and bounds right now...Cedar Park is getting a huge water park by next summer...FUN!

I'll try to answer all of your questions.

Yes, we all like outdoor activities (hiking, swimming, biking, etc) and my children play sports (specifically soccer and baseball). We were very impressed w/ the museums and restaurants we found in Austin and enjoyed the nightlife there. We are more looking for family-orientated neighborhoods w/ activities for kids. HOA and older homes are fine with us.

You mentioned Great Schools which is why I was hoping for people to list zip codes if they can. It's just an easier way to search the schools in the area.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!
