It can't be the best country when gay marriage still isn't legal in Australia.

I would have thought Australia would have been one of the first. I'm surprised by this late date in time, that it's not legal.

I think it is... Best country in the world right now IMO. High standard of living with an amazing range of climates. They don't call it the lucky country for nothing!

Well the claim for the lucky country is certainly changing quickly into the unlucky country!

Most western countries all have a high standard of living. Do not confuse this with cost of living, which is high in Australia.

It is high due to high minimum wages, which in turn mean higher wages. Australia has some of the highest wages in the world.

As the OP is based in Australia, they may have already seen this but this has certainly turned into a very heated thread about living in Australia, the good, bad and the off topic! Makes for very good reading.

As to being the best country, Australia does portray that image through the media to the world. It does have good points and it does have bad points, like every country.

Lifestyle is good, climate is good, healthcare is up there as some of the best in the world. It is a major destination for migrants from all over the world looking for a new life.

I was in Australia not too long ago. Amazing place but i wouldn't call it the best country. You can't buy guns at wallmart, cars are expensive, internet is slow, no mountains( no a 2k meter hill is not a mountain in my book) no volcanos, no harsh winters, and very expensive.
