Now there's an example of racism perpetuating itself.
Black represents the aboriginal = black
Red represents earth and spirits = connection with the land
Yellow represents the sun as life giver and protector
All the above falls a bit short of the reality of life in the 21st century...and no doubt, beyond. Might have cultural significance to a *particular* group of people, but it does absolutely zero to assist integration and acceptance of *many* groups of people in the formation of a nation of people as a whole.
Throw out all these obsolete separatist pieces of rag, including the Union Jack which represents the whiteys subservience to the British Empire {which is pretty much defunct or non existent today anyway}, and instead use the Eureka flag. This piece of rag represents freedom from oppression for ALL people, black white or polka dot. Freedom from tyranny and suppression, and ownership of the wealthy.
Get rid of these separatist ideals. If it wasn't for the 'whiteys', the aboriginal would never have thought up the concept of a flag to begin with.
Maybe we should just be done with it and adopt this one.
ROFPML...Why not, we're on the passenger train heading directly for the New World Order anyway, controlled/regulated and dictated by one entity...the Corporation, using Governments as puppets for their own gain.
At it's very basic level, the flag of Australia represents a political entity, "Australia". Of course people identify with the flag and it means more than that to most Australians (a representation of common values etc). It doesn't need to represent land. And I'm struggling to think of any countries whose flags do.
As a non-aboriginal Australian, I don't identify with the aboriginal flag at all (nb I don't have any problem with the flag, I just see it as a flag for aboriginal Australians).
It would also be odd to have a national flag that is copyrighted to a living individual.
Nah, if you stick a flagpole stuck in the ground and a flag up the pole, the flag represents represents the ground the pole is stuck in. Just use your common sense.

To try and reduce a symbol of nationhood like a flag to simply being representative of "the ground the pole is stuck in" is simplistic. It implies that a country is nothing more than a piece of land.

No. Not nothing more than.
It implies that the base of a country is its land, etc. To help you along once again, the current great south land flag implies that the base of this land is England.
Pretty straight forward issue.
