There is confusion with the shortening of South Australia to SA with South Africa.
The name South Australia is not geographically correct, and is confusing to overseas visitors.
A new choice of name is the most difficult.

Why would they be using the initials on in an international setting anyway?

I have always thought we weren't very imaginative at the time we were naming the states... (apart from Vic & Tas)...

As to choosing a new name, I'd say, don't get John Singleton on the committee!

We need to get away from these english names anyway, if we follow history the state could end up being known as Elizabeth

What is wrong with these people? If they were any more brain dead rigarmortis would be setting in.

The working family of this state, and the rest of this country, are being slowly dragged down to the level of Zimbabwe and some mindless moron waffles on about International travellers and a state name change.

My god, is that the level of intelligence of the people of this country. The working population are being bled dry and someone brings a state name change up? I am gobsmacked!

These people should spend less time watching "days of our lives" and more time in the real world!

Rename it Eastern Western Australia

Seriously though, I can't really see South Australian's wanting to rename the state, or agreeing to a new name.

Nah, we're not a colony anymore. Maybe these days we'd end up with a name like Gillard, Julialand, Bryce, Scarceland
