So even worse then, you let your country cede its political, banking and economic policy to a foreign power. And you're calling Australia a colony.

No one forced Ireland to join the euro, no one forced rampant property speculation. I guess it's always convenient to blame someone else though.

i myself voted against the various treatys which proposed ceding some soverignty to europe and will be voting NO in another one which takes place this day week

the country is where it is due to our goverments idiotic descision to guarentee all banking debt , including the debts of foreign banks based in ireland , they thought the big guns in europe might pull the plug on funding and went way over the top in trying to be the best boys in merkel and sarkozys class , the people had no vote on the disastrous banking guarentee , if you put that to one side , the country is going through just another rescession , no worse than the uk and not near as bad as spain and quite obviously greece , the goverment needlesly hung the country
