For those of you like me who enjoy visiting rural Australia and/or who like looking at pictures of Australian towns and their buildings, you might enjoy this site: (if you haven't come across it already):

Australian Pictorials

Each town has a multitude of pictures under its name - in some cases, it looks like the owner of the site has taken photos of every shop and/or historic building in town. Despite the separate photos, I think in some cases it seems to give a real feel of the town. I say that after looking at the links for towns I've visited.

An example link:

Burnie Pictorial

So, readers, is there any town you particularly love which is represented in their files (they are divided by state) and any particular picture?

Also, do any towns appeal to you more after looking at the pictures?

Great links thanks

I went to Gympie for the first time this week (music festival) and found it very similar to some of the countryside in NZ. This intrigued me but I didn't get the chance to stop and have a good look at it, it's been painted since this photo was taken.

I'd like to see Maleny on that site, I think we're hiding our light under a bushel here but maybe that's not a bad thing?

What! No Tumbarumba? One day.... I shall return.

Maleny is quaint in the extreme. Lived in Jindabyne for about 8 months- great place.

Australia has more good looking towns, than you can point a stick at.
