Can anyone share their opinions of Highett, Bentleigh, East Bentleigh areas in Melbourne suburbs? Looking at the various real estate/domain websites for potential places to rent if/when we move to Melbourne, it seems these areas are significantly cheaper than just a few streets away in some cases and google street maps don't seem to show any particular reason why this might be the case. What don't I see/know about these areas that make them seem better value, other than being a few streets further inland?!

Bayside is a new developmental area, it's a fairly new suburb that isn't too populated; it's probably just cheap because they want more people moving there.

Don't know much about (East)/Bentleigh except that it has a lot of Italians and Greeks. I live fairly near there and of what I know about it, it has some pretty alright schools (the public schools there are horrible though) and it's fairly close to Chadstone Shopping Centre.

I have no idea about Highett at all, but looking at the suburbs that surround it, it seems like it's an okay area, I'm guessing it's a very ordinary suburban middle-class neighbourhood.
