I think Kate Brown is on Kratum and ill as everyone else is literally getting the common sense virus pass thru. They are trying to hide it like they did with FDR's polio. Oh I thought you meant WA.

Nope, they're powerless now. They used to be citizens, now they're subjects. (And no, I didn't bother scanning the previous 10 pages...)

No further need to rebel as nearly all restrictions are being lifted in most of the country. In eight hours time the border is opening to tourists, after two years. In NSW density limits have been lifted, use of QR codes lifted, all restrictions on singing dancing, nightclubs etc are either gone or about to go. Masks will be with us for four more days but longer on public transport. School changes still coming but parents will just be given 8 home tests per child to use at their discretion. In NSW restrictions on unvaxxed were lifted before Christmas but are at the discretion of the business.

So the topics of conversation in Sydney have switched from Covid to the usual ones of real estate prices and travel plans.

I'm still waiting until they get rid of all testing and quarantine requirements for international tourists around the world, including Australia. Once that happens, I will look at booking my next trip. I don't want to take any test to cross a border. I'm totally fine with keeping the requirement to be fully vaccinated though.

Other states are beginning to rapidly drop the majority of mask mandates. Now they're only mandatory in places like hospitals and aged care where it actually makes sense.

Announced here today in NSW that masks and virtually all other restrictions on schools will be lifted on Monday, except primary school staff will have to wear them for another week (children do not have do now)

There will probably be a surge of cases in schools in Sydney after all this wet weather and the kids needing to be kept inside more. But it will continue to happen and has to be lived with.

All I wish for now is that some of our friends stop being so cautious. I am sick of eating outside as this year it has either been really unpleasant because of heat and humidity or because of rain.

Not much rain down here this summer, so it's been pretty good for getting out and about. Still people are scared which is annoying. I think an important step is to gradually stop reporting on cases and stuff if we are to live with it. I think a lot of people are still addicted to checking case numbers every day even though it's not important anymore, and we need to get people to stop doing that and being scared.

Agree, time to not list case numbers. Fear can be hard to overcome. I went to a new physio who was highly recommended. Was not happy when the receptionist asked to see the history on my QR app and grilled me on where we had been sitting in a restaurant ten days earlier. After discussing it with a friend who works in Covid policy, I told them next time that even the police are not allowed to access the history and it was a major breech of privacy. I won’t be going back there, but that sort of grilling would reinforce fear in many people.

By contrast my dentist was very pleased to hear that none of my family was properly sick when we had Covid and he believes that the media are much to blame for all the fear.

Ah well our friends have just agreed to eat inside at a restaurant this weekend if the weather forecast is correct and this rain continues. One step forward …. AND no masks needed in about 36 hours time.

Sydney is totally awash this week. Last thing you want to do is sit outside; this morning even under cover the water was flowing underfoot and dripping down while I had my coffee with my “Covid cautious” friend.
