This nonsense needs to stop. When we are dealing with real crisis and corporations are worried about issues like this to me it's a sign of worse crisis to come. "Nero fiddled while Rome burns" springs to mind when I read this.
All part of the irrelevance of living in Australia these days, but I suppose removes from discussion the 'real issues' that are really impacting this nation. Keep it trivial , maintain control over information flow , and like magic the rest will cease to exist.

You do wonder when Childcare Providors, Nursing Recruitment agents and Primary Schools etc etc are going to start setting Gender Quoatas (For men of course) as well.
I know troubes has already set up a thread in the UK forum about the Sam Kerr Situation.
Though one has to wonder if it were a male Australian soccer player accused of racitlly abusing a female police officer of indian heritge in the UK, how different the entire media and political coverage on the issue would be?

When I finished high school in NSW the HSC results were published as pass or fail in the attempted subjects but we were not told our overall tertiary entrance mark. However there were Commonwealth scholarships awarded to cover the University fees and Teacher Scholarships, which covered fees, also paid a living allowance but came with a bond.
People just accepted that fact the boys were seemingly given Teachers scholarships with a lower mark as it was deemed important at the time to ensure a decent number of men were teaching in primary schools in particular.

What goes around comes around.
Female Teachers in QLD were once forced to retire as soon as they were married (My Aunt was one), so of course the needed men if that were the case. The other side been that the men who married teachers were 100% expected to financially support said teacher, are these female apprentices expected to support male partners?
Its 2024, not 1954 and times have change, we have this thing called the gender discrimination act in place these days, and "What Goes around Comes Around" is a totally irrelevant argument from a legal standpoint, and should be from a political one as well.
I am sorry Marisa , but you have really hit a nerve with me on this one. Its comments like yours that make we far more worried about the world my son will grow up in rather than the one my daughter will, and from my own experience, if you want an area in this country where gender discrimination is rife and no one wants to hear about it - Anything to do with the care or rasing of children is a very good place you should start

What concern in particular do you have for your son? Is it that society has swung too much the other way and that men will face discrimination?
In NSW employment of married women in teaching was restricted from 1932, as a depression response, and repealed in 1947. So sounds like it lasted a lot longer in QLD. I started teaching in the 1970s and in NSW it was one of the few professions where women had equal pay. By that time many women did stay in the workforce, possibly as Sydney was a very expensive city in which to live, even back then.

IMOHO Society needs to swing in more than one direction to create and equilbrum.
Obviously traditionally in most (but not all) cases we had this situation.
1) Male breadwinner works in paid employment till the age of 65, and provides financial support to women and Children at home.
2) Female stays at home can cares for and raises children, is a homemaker and provides emotional support etc to breadwinning husband.
However at the moment society is very centred on changing the bolded alone, and none of the rest.
So where does this leave the unemployed/broke young men who find themselves displaced by female employees, who have no alternative purpose in life?
The answer is on the streets, in their mums basement playing video games, getting high on drugs etc etc.
