Go to expatexposed.com and get the dope on NZ.
I have been here for many years now, and if I weren't legally trapped by the family law system I'd have been out of here inside of a year and a half.
It's hardscrabble and they resent Americans here. They'll bilk you for every cent you got.
Cry me a river!!!

I won't bother thanks - that's exactly the sort of treatment migrants receive in NZ, so you have just proved my point as did that other...uh, what are the rules here? let's play it safe...."individual"... who sent incredibly abusive PMs to me and one other citydata member for simply expressing our experience-based opinions.

Glad you're satisfied with it though. It sure isn't for everybody.

Better have a thick skin and lots of dough to give away and REALLY like to go outside and gawk at tree ferns and sheep. You'll LOVE it!

To Hoping To Come Home:
Good onya mate !
New Zealand is a ****hole and I hope you make it home sooner than I did.
To the OP:
Yes, it may have a faraway, romantic attraction to you now, it may be heakbreakingly beautiful and the air may go down like a cool drink of spring water, BUT the reality of living in NZ is abysmal. My children (who grew up there, mind you) and I hate the place and will never go back.
I know whereof I speak. I spent 16 years there and not by choice.
All these Kiwis will tell you how great their country is till the cows come home. Please at least try to consider that this source could be a wee bit biased. Do yourself a big favour and go to expatexposed.com (already mentioned) and see how other immigrants have fared in their experiences of the lovely islands.....
I can look back now and say, Thank You God, for letting me get out of New Zealand. God defend New Zealand? More that God should defend those immigrants who are now stuck there . Talkin economics here.
To you Kiwis who hate me because I didn't embrace absolutely everything about your piddly, little, backwards, 3rd world country (and I dare to speak this truth):
Go stuff yourselves.
Nya, nya, you can't touch me now. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahah, I win.

Well, I guess if I was forced to be somewhere for 16 years against my free will then I would hold some resentment too.

Hey, I left by choice...so obviously I don't think it's paradise either, but that wasn't an opinion you provided...that was a great big poor-me whine. Nothing particularly helpful for the OP. Maybe try providing some slightly more objective and informative arguments?

Let us all know which country you choose next - and tell us how happy you are?!
