I am talking about ground coffee at the supermarket...it was a shocker.

Of course more than offset by Tim Tams and other assorted goodies.

And real bread....

And a real Butcher....

And.....

Yes, certainly is. That's why we buy a kilo of beans and grind it ourselves every morning, although we used to do that anyway in Canada. Something about the smell of freshly ground coffee - better than the best perfume.

I agree with you there...LOVE the smell of coffee.

Never ground our own however, might need to do that as often have issues with store coffee being either very weak or burnt tasting.

We have still yet to get our first Starbucks. Probably the only place on the Planet not to have one. After Starbucks
closed so many stores in the eastern states (Gloria Jeans dominates Australia) It doesn't look like we will be getting one soon
Imagine my surprise to see Gloria Jeans in the US and finding out it started in Chicago! I always thought it was an Aussie coffee chain! I personally was sad when Starbucks closed their outlets in SA. One of the nicest Starbucks I had ever been to (I've been to Starbucks all over SE Asia, N America, Beirut, Europe) was in Glenelg and they had a large deck overlooking the beach. It was a brilliant place to catch sun and catch up on reading while enjoying the ocean breeze.

I'd never heard of Gloria Jeans when I lived in Canada, nor when I visited the US. I always thought it was an Aussie chain too

Coffee is sooooo popular here now. It's like it got in Vancouver in the late 80's, when you'd have a Starbucks just about every mile. There was even an intersection of Vancouver - Robson and Thurlow where there were two diagonally from each other. And there were always lots of people in each.

The other place I saw lots and lots of Starbucks was London about 3 years ago. Not sure if they've shut down many there now but at the time, it was almost funny there were so many.
