For the second year in a row the Nationwide race at Indy has fewer than 50k in the stands and the race has sucked big time. Taking this race away from ORP might be the most asinine thing NASCAR has ever done.

I don't think nationwide ever really draws alot of people combined with a sprint cup in same weekend. The idea tho is to let nationwide race on major tracks more.

NASCAR moved the Nationwide race to Indy so that IMS could sell ticket packages to more than one event at a time. It was a gimmick to get more people in the stands for the Brickyard 400 and it's failing miserably. NASCAR needs to admit they made a mistake and move the race back to O'Reilly Raceway Park. One terrible stock car race a year at Indy is one too many. If NASCAR had any sense at all they would stop racing at Indy altogether because the Brickyard 400 sucks.

texdav is right, the nationwide series doesnt draw a lot of people to begin with, and when they run at the same track as teh cup guys, they draw even less. no big deal for nascar as its the sprint cup they count on.

I think it costs less for Nascar to run the races on one track rather than use two tracks. Nationwide series is a support race not the main event like the Sprint cup race

I didn't watch the Saturday NW race just because they were at Indy. Indy is a bad race on the Cup side, even more so on the NW side. I suspect that if I traveling into Indy to go to the 400, I would go to the Sat race as well and I suspect that is the reasoning for the race...

I recorded the Sun race.. and watched the majority in FF. Its just not that good of a race to watch in real time.. I did watch the final 20 or so laps at real time.. painful to say the least.

Over the last 20 laps, there were two passes in the Top 15. Both by Stewart. That pretty much explains why the crowd at yesterday's "race" was estimated at a laughable 75,000 (30% of capacity), but yeah, Indy's great.

The sooner the Brickyard is put out to pasture, the better.

If I'm going to Indiana this time of year, it's for Indiana Sprint Week.

And that's Sprint CARS, not Sprint Cup
