bill davis told gordon that they would do one more season in busch racing, and then move to nascar after that. gordon didnt want to wait, so he jumped to hendrick.
A no brainer really. If a spot did not open at HMS, then this 19 y/o phenom would be heading somewhere else. Jeff knew that and being the savvy business man that he is, he found it to be perfect timing to retire.
Did Chase get any starts in Cup last year? I don't remember but he certainly will get some this year to prep him for 2016! I am already looking for to his Cup career and hope we as fans don't put too much pressure on him to succeed right of the bat.. Of course being with a top TEAM like Hendrick, he will have to win and win soon in order to keep his seat but I suspect he will! Will NAPA make a return to CUP as well as his sponsor or will Dupont stay on the 24 ? Wait, its way too early for silly season.. I am juiced, just got my 500 tix in the mail.. can't wait for speed weeks to get here!
WEll, i guess I should have read the article first. Chase will run 5 Cup races this year in the #25 NAPA Chevrolet:
March 29 at Martinsville Speedway, April 25 at Richmond International Raceway, May 24 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, July 26 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Sept. 6 at Darlington Raceway.
I kinda wish they wouldn't have used the 24 for Chase.
I wonder if that is for certain? This year he will be driving the 25 car for a few races. I don't see any reason for him not to keep that number. But if HMS is not going to retire the 24 number, Chase seems to have the quality of a driver that would honor and respect the 24 car.

They very well may do that and leave 24 for the few races i suspect Jeff will run each year.. He is running a few races each year just not a full season, correct?
