Of course he will........in his 9 years full time in Cup he's finished in the top 10- 4 times, highest being 3rd. He's made 3 out of the 6 chases.
I'm telling ya, last year Hendrick was throwing everything it had into Mark Martin's garage and put Jr. on the back burner because they wanted to get the old man a Championship and of course JJ and Gordon got in the way. This year is Jr's turn. There's going to be some changes this year, Jr will turn it around, Roush will be stronger, RCR will be back and MWR will be strong, (look at MWR yesterday 5th and 6th place).
SO what is going to be his excuse this year if he doesnt? Crew chief, team, what? If they threw all the money at Martin, why did JJ win it all???? hmmm
or will he have a bad crew chief agian for the 100th time?

Looks like blaming the crew chief won't be necessary this year Speed, Jr has fan(s) trumping down the "resource conspiracy" theory already & I guess by mid-season Jr will have a data base load of fan generated excuses to choose from.
Daytona can ceate opportunity for many drivers as it doesn't take a lot of chassis or tire management as other tracks. Many a mediocore driver have performed well at Daytona only to be a non-factor at other tracks (M. Waltrip, W. Burton) on the circuit. If Jr. is in the top 12 mid-season then I'll believe he might be a contender.
Until then he's just................Ove88ted.....clap, clap......clap, clap, clap.

The only thing wrong with the 88's equipment is the part between the steering wheel and the seat.

They paired the #5 & #88 in the same shop so the old man could teach Jr. how to set up a car just like daddy was doing @ DEI.
There was talk about it for this season pairing the two teams in the same shop as the #24 & #48 have been, so I assume this wasn't the case last year. I'll see if I can dig it up.
