That's what is needed, a device connected to the speedometer so that when you go over 0 MPH the cell phone goes dead. This way young people who don't know any better can concentrate on their driving instead of trying to learn how to type and drive at the same time. Also holds true for the moms who just can't put the frigging phone down.

They outlawed the suicide knob why can't they outlaw the suicide phone?

Do a Google search for "cellphone jammers" and you may discover a new toy that will provide hours of amusement

Problem with that idea is how can you make the call in an actual emergency?

No thanks. There's enough nanny state technology and laws already out there. How about instead we mandate that all cars must be bluetooth equipped just the way they mandated TPMS. The technology is cheap and integration should be very inexpensive. GM is almost there as the current OnStar modules all have bluetooth connectivity as of 2009.

Umm---stop the car? I think in an actual emergency, stopping the car is one of the first things I would think of to do, cellphone aside.

Facts show that hands free is no safer than hand held. It's the concentration or lack of that causes cell phoners to drive erratic.

Lots of people don't like laws but we need them to keep stupid people from injuring themselves as well as others.

Some people are even dumb enough to believe that seat belts kill more than they save. How stupid.

Except that not everyone can afford to purchase a new or newer vehicle.

What you're asking for is illegal. Read the Communications Act of 1934.

You cannot interfere with radio communications.

I know that the Military has been using a device in their convoys front and rear vehicles that jam all signals within a 100 meters to jam signals to cell phones that are attatched to IED's for remote detonations. Maybe we can find that same thing and attatch it to our cars and trucks to kill the signals as we're driving down the highway .
